Hans Wilsdorf founded Rolex in 1905 in London, initially importing Swiss movements and fitting them into quality cases. The name "Rolex" was chosen to be easily pronounceable in any language. In 1910, Rolex became the first wristwatch to receive the Swiss Certificate of Chronometric Precision. The company moved to Geneva in 1919 and has remained there ever since, becoming synonymous with Swiss watchmaking excellence.
